SUMMER ART CAMP 2019

Summer Art Camp….. July, 2019…the dates are 16,17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 2019.  Students may sign up for a morning session OR an afternoon session OR for both morning and afternoon. If they sign up for both they should bring a brown bag lunch…the cost is $30 total for either a morning or an afternoon session OR $50 if they sign up for both morning and afternoon! Morning classes are from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM…afternoon classes are from Noon to 1:30 pm.

REGISTRATION BEGINS APRIL 15, 2019…CALL 330-339-2787 TO REGISTER. PAYMENT IS MADE THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP (CASH OR CHECK MADE OUT TO TCCA)

 

Morning Classes: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM

> Pottery (hand building) – taught by Ashley McCahill –  Students will primarily work OFF the wheel and get personal one-to-one instruction on how to work with slabs, create textures, use the tools, etc… and how to decorate then finish the piece. For students 8 -18. SORRY, THIS CLASS IS FULL!

Twists & Tangles –  for Ages 7 – 12 - taught by Rachel Immel – Explore the art of Zentangle, an easy to learn style made up of intricate patterns that promotes relaxation and creativity. Students will learn the basics and receive a journal to keep all of their unique creations together. Materials provided. ONLY 2 SPOTS LEFT!

> Beginning Violin– for ages 7 – 10  – taught by Brenady Barnes–  This class is for beginners who will learn the basics of playing violin through games, activities, discussions and hands on experience with an acoustic violin. Students will also receive personalized tips for improving sound while playing various rhythms, notes and songs. Violins provided. SORRY, THIS CLASS IS FULL!

>Trash to Treasure - taught by Mallory Gerstacker, for ages 7 and up,  Take your old things and recreate something new and amazing. Campers will work on a variety of projects that will take recycling to an artistic level! T-Shirt Surgery, wind chimes, sculptures and more all made from recyclable materials.  The following items would be super to begin collecting for the class…T-shirts, toilet paper / paper towel rolls, tin cans, plastic bottles & Styrofoam trays. SORRY, THIS CLASS IS FULL!

 Drawing from Observation – taught by  Bill Koch. Ages 7 – 12,  Learn to draw from nature as well as use your imagination to create fabulous compositions. Materials provided. SORRY, THIS CLASS IS FULL!!

> Cartooning Boot Camp – taught by Doug Laubacher – Ages 7 and up.  10:00 am – 11:30am. Learn to create interesting and distinctive characters in different styles…if you are interested in manga, comic strips or superheroes this class is for you! Students are encouraged to bring sketchbooks and favorite drawing medium. SORRY, THIS CLASS IS FULL!

Afternoon Classes: Noon to 1:30 PM.

> Pottery (wheel throwing) – taught by Dee Grossman –  Must be 11 years old.  Students will work primarily on the wheel and get personal one-to-one instruction on how to center the clay, bring up the walls, use the tools, etc… and how to decorate the finished piece. We can also hand build.  ONE SPOT LEFT!

> Splish-Splash Watercolor Class – taught by  Bill Koch.  Ages 7 – 12.  Learn to use watercolor paints to create beautiful compositions. Explore the beauty of this medium. Materials provided. SORRY, THIS CALSS IS FULL!

> Drama – taught by Elizabeth Holms – A workshop for young thespians ages 8 – 17. Learn to put a play together from audition to performance! Class discussion includes: character development, costumes, sets, props and makeup. SORRY, THIS CLASS IS FULL!

 Spring 2019 Class Offerings

>Scavenger Poetry – Taught by Larissa Carrick, 5 Tuesdays 4:15 pm – 5:30 pm beginning February, 12, 2019.  For ages 8 – 12. There’s a rumor floating around out there…that poetry is boring. Like most rumors, it’s simply not true! Poetry can be a great adventure! In this class, you’ll learn what tools you need, what clues to look for, and how to navigate your own path to express yourself through the exciting world of poetry! All you’ll need is a pencil and a curious mind. Boring, shmoring; come exploring! Cost is $40.

 

> Drama-taught by Elizabeth Holmes, For ages 7 and up,  5 Mondays  4:30 pm – 5:45 pm beginning February 11, 2019.  This workshop is for students who have a desire to act on the stage.  Character Development, audition preparation, monologues will just be some of the things covered in this class. Cost is $40

>Beginning Children’s Ballet for Ages 5 – 7 - taught by Shellyn Leeper.  5 Tuesdays 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm,  beginning February 12, 2019.This class is an introductory experience for beginners wanting to know about ballet. Wear ballet slippers or socks & comfortable clothes. Cost is $25.

> Intermediate Ballet – for ages 6 – 11  taught by Shellyn Leeper – 5 Tuesdays 5:00 p-m – 5:30 pm beginning February 12, 2019…cost is $20. This class is for beginners who have already taken ballet with Shellyn. Wear ballet slippers or socks & comfortable clothes. Cost is $25

> Drawing & Painting for Kids - taught by William Koch – Ages 8 and up. 5 Wednesdays 4:15pm – 5:30pm beginning February 13, 2019.  Learn skills, explore media and engage your creativity! All materials provided. For young artists ages 8 and up.  Cost is $40.

> Kids Clay – taught by Ashley McCahill. Ages 8 and up. 5 Mondays 4:15 pm – 5:30 pm Beginning February 11, 2019. Young artists ages 8 and up will learn the principles of hand building. Create your dreams in clay!  All materials included (clay, glaze, firing) please wear old clothes!  Cost is $40.
